Ebène, 31 July 2026 – Absa Mauritius continues its fight against cancer through Stories of Hope by strengthening its partnership with Link to Life through a financial contribution of Rs5 million. This support will help extend awareness, education, and early detection efforts across the country, while reinforcing efforts to encourage more Mauritians to take a proactive approach to their health.
Launched with the aim of promoting cancer prevention and early diagnosis, the Stories of Hope initiative has gradually brought together several committed stakeholders around a shared goal: better informing Mauritians and helping to save lives through awareness and screening.
To date, the programme has raised awareness among more than 3,200 people and enabled over 2,400 free screenings across Mauritius and Rodrigues.
While these results are encouraging, cancer remains one of the country's leading public health concerns. Absa Mauritius believes it remains essential to continue efforts to inform, educate, and raise awareness among the population in order to promote early detection, recognised as one of the most effective ways to improve chances of treatment and recovery.
Convinced that lasting impact depends on strong partnerships, Absa Mauritius has chosen to further strengthen its collaboration with Link to Life, an organisation that has been engaged for many years in awareness-raising, patient support, and the promotion of screening. Cédrine Chimon-Rampal, CSR Manager at Absa Mauritius, stated: "We are proud of the progress made through Stories of Hope and the collective impact already created alongside our partners, including Link to Life. However, our ambition goes beyond the results achieved so far. We want to continue raising awareness, educating, and encouraging Mauritians to take charge of their health. By strengthening our partnership with Link to Life, we reaffirm our commitment to acting as a positive force within Mauritian society and to contributing to the emergence of a genuine culture of prevention."
"Absa Mauritius's renewed support will allow us to intensify our awareness and screening efforts across the country. Beyond the numbers, our goal is also to continue informing people, breaking down misconceptions, and encouraging more people to act early to protect their health," said Selvina Moonesawmy, Manager of Link to Life.
Through Stories of Hope, Absa Mauritius reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing of Mauritian communities and to creating a lasting impact. The bank remains convinced that awareness, education, and early detection have an essential role to play in the fight against cancer and in building a healthier society.
