Stories of Hope is a three-year national cancer sensitisation programme aimed at raising awareness and promoting the early detection of the most prevalent cancers in Mauritius — breast, colon, and lung cancers in both women and men, prostate cancer in men, and cervical cancer in women.
This initiative builds on our longstanding commitment to improving community health and reflects our dedication to being a positive force for good in everything we do.

Why cancer?
- Leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020. (Source: https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/cancer)
- 3rd cause of death in Mauritius, representing 12.8% of total deaths just after cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. (https://health.govmu.org/)
- Mauritius, over the past decades, has experienced a gradual rise in the incidence of cancer: breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in females, prostate cancer in males.
This programme reflects our belief that the future of Mauritius depends on a population that prioritises health and well-being. By focusing on long-term impact, we aim to make a sustainable difference in the fight against cancer, ensuring that the entire community benefits from a healthier tomorrow.
