Key appointments



Christine Orono

Appointed Head of Human Capital, effective September 2025.

Christine is a seasoned People and Culture practitioner with over 30 years of experience across banking, insurance, hospitality, and telecommunications. She has held senior HR leadership roles across Kenya, South Africa, and the UK, and played a pivotal role in the transition from Barclays to Absa. Christine will lead the Bank’s people strategy, culture transformation, and talent development agenda to support growth across markets.

Dave Khelawon

Appointed Head of Debt, Wholesale Banking, effective July 2025.

Dave brings over two decades of international banking experience across Australia, the UAE, and Mauritius. He will spearhead strategic financing initiatives, leveraging his expertise in corporate and acquisition finance to support regional expansion and cross-border client solutions.

Christine May Gibson

Appointed Head – Global Business and Financial Institutions Group, Wholesale Banking, effective October 2025.
Christine is a seasoned investment and corporate finance professional with a strong track record in sustainable finance and infrastructure transactions across Africa, the UK, and the Middle East. She will lead strategic partnerships and institutional client growth across Pan-African markets.

Kailash Ramtohul

Appointed Head of Cash, Wholesale Banking, effective September 2025.

Kailash brings extensive experience in transaction banking and corporate structuring. He will drive innovation in liquidity and cash management solutions, supporting regional corporates and cross-border operations

Kirsten Prangley

Appointed Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate and Investment Banking, effective March 2025.

Kirsten is an experienced Banking lawyer having held various senior legal leadership positions at Standard Bank in South Africa and, more recently, as General Counsel for GRIT. Kirsten brings a wealth of legal expertise in the field of Corporate and Investment Banking in South Africa, Mauritius and pan-Africa. Her appointment reflects the growing strength of the in-house legal team as a leading enabler of complex Corporate and Investment Banking transactions, both locally and regionally.

Sanjana Kissoondharry

Appointed Head of Financial Crime Compliance / MLRO, effective October 2025.

Sanjana has over 17 years of experience in compliance and governance across multiple jurisdictions. She will lead the Bank’s financial crime compliance strategy, ensuring robust regulatory adherence and risk management across markets.
