Cédrine Chimon-Rampal, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Absa Mauritius, highlighted that Absa Women Forward represents far more than just a training programme. It is a long-term commitment designed to empower women entrepreneurs to write a new chapter in their business journeys. She stated, “In line with our purpose: Empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together… one story at a time, we want to strengthen the resilience of women entrepreneurs and equip them with the tools to build sustainable businesses. We firmly believe that diversity, inclusion, and the sharing of expertise are key drivers of a stronger economy. By supporting these women today, we contribute collectively to the overall development of our society.”
Echoing this vision, Jean-Jacques André, lead trainer and mentor for the Absa Women Forward programme, remarked, “This initiative offers participants a meaningful developmental journey. My role as a mentor is to help them shape their vision, boost their confidence, and cultivate essential skills such as negotiation and human capital management. The programme is not only about imparting knowledge but about providing continuous support, enabling these women to grow their businesses sustainably while staying true to their values.”
Deepta Soodaye, founder of Deecraft, an artisanal business specialising in handcrafted bags, pouches, pencil cases, and other accessories, shared how the programme has transformed her business management approach. “Before, I didn’t know how to accurately calculate my costs and had never received formal training to help me. Thanks to this programme, I now have a better understanding of financial management and can make more informed decisions to grow Deecraft efficiently.”
Similarly, Natacha Mudhoo, founder of Island Buzz, views the programme as a valuable opportunity to accelerate her business growth. “I am truly honoured to have been selected for the Absa Women Forward programme, which represents a precious opportunity for my business. With structured support, this initiative helps me deepen my understanding of the key challenges facing my company and explore essential strategies for development. My ambition is to acquire the knowledge and tools needed to take my business to the next level.”
Through this initiative, Absa Mauritius reaffirms its commitment to being an active force for good while celebrating the talent and ambition of women entrepreneurs.
